The pop-rock group has just released its fourth and latest album, The man who forgot his name. Two years ago, Mark, singer Julia's Smile took the decision to change Loredo Madrid, a small town in Cantabria which have shaped his latest album. We talked to him about surfing, nature and music. Fled from Madrid to make this record and have been living in the countryside.
"Rural life inspires you? It depends on whom. To me, yes. Although strategically it was better to be in Madrid, decided to cut to the city. We needed to be very focused, deal with loneliness ... This album is the soundtrack of these two years living in Loredo. His love of surfing also weighed in the decision ...
(Laughs) Well, I give all I can to surf. Recently, less because I'm busy. Whenever I travel somewhere I can surf. In addition, we began to have friends in the industry with whom we share our hobby, as Jorge Drexler and David Pescao, El Canto del Loco. "They miss the city? Defend nature, but not by environmentalism, but for pure selfishness because not go down too often.
We love Madrid, has a very good energy, but being here is priceless. There's a wonderful world beyond human beings. The album title is just around. Yes, this is to escape the city. There is an idea of progress that one has to do with the accumulation of property, does that not bring anything good.
When you take a walk on the beach and see all the shit that you return the sea, you realize you have to take care of the planet. So your new life has also drawn his environmentalist side. Well, not really defend nature and environmentalism, but for pure selfishness: we like to enjoy nature as it is.
The solution lies in each one of us, not politics. There will come a time when we realize that we are happier living in a certain way ... At this time also has become a father. It will also be marked at the time of writing ... Legitimately ask that if you like the album, you buy it if it is an inspiring stage, especially in pregnancy, because then you have no time even to inspire you (laughs).
This is already their fourth album. Are they veterans? Almost, almost. We see ourselves as learners, but we look back and next year we ten years as a band. We are very proud. We believe that each album is better than the last. We always look round songs. And this is the first time we've succeeded in every way.
Yet, selling is becoming more complicated ... Well, in our blog you can listen to 98% of the disc. But legitimately ask if the album you like, you buy it. The money, like it or not, is important. And depending on how you spend it, that you favor.
