The pianist Pinetop Perkins, one of the legends of American blues, died Monday at age 97 at his home in Austin (Texas) because of a heart attack, according to his representative. Perkins was one of the last of the great age of American Delta blues, and in February became the oldest person to receive a Grammy Award.
