Colombian singer Shakira will soon receive the medal from the prestigious Harvard Foundation in recognition of his music and his charity at the annual meeting of the Academy to be held in the prestigious University of Cambridge February 26, 2011 . The Harvard Foundation acknowledges with this award, the most famous artists, scientists and world leaders for their humanitarian efforts, initiative for reconciliation of art and science intercultural.
For this year 2011, so the singer Shakira was chosen to receive the award for his contributions to musical culture and its work to help children in poor regions such as Haiti. The Chairman of the Academy said: "Students and faculty of the Harvard Foundation chose Shakira as the artist of the year 2011.
