Katy Perry reaches nine awards nominations in "MTV"

The song "Firework" Katy Perry had enough spark to take nine nominations at the MTV awards to the best music videos, including one for best video of the year. Perry, who led the special program on Wednesday to announce the nominations, it could also be the award for best video by a female artist for "Firework" and best pop video by "Last Friday Night (TGIF)." Meanwhile Adele tied Kanye West with seven nominations.


The British diva compete with Perry for the award for best video for "Rolling in the Deep." Other artists in the category are the Beastie Boys with "Make Some Noise," the rapper Tyler for "Yonkers" and Bruno Mars for "Grenade." Mars was nominated for four Oscars. Among the artists with more than one nomination highlighted Lady Gaga, Eminem and Beyonce.

MTV Awards to the best of the music videos will air live from Los Angeles on 28 August.
