March against Shakira concert in Mexico

- Civil society organizations on Friday called for a peaceful march against the Saturday concert that pop star Shakira will make in the Mexican city of Merida. The concert in Merida, capital of Yucatan, is promoted by the local mayor Angelica Araujo, embroiled in a controversy over the alleged use of public funds in financing the show, 'The concert of the sun Maya', which is free and expected to attend some 100,000 people.

Under the motto "Shakira, Yucatan admires you, do not be part of a lie," the promoters of the demonstration not to attend the concert and concentrate at the same time with white flags in a peaceful march, Ayde Zamora, one of the organizers of the demonstration, told to reporters. The promoters of the march demanding the mayor Araujo explaining the use of resources for education and social needs for the realization of this concert. The money will be recovered with the flow of tourists and sponsored by private companies. The police placed a heavy security around the old railroad facilities known as the 'Iron' in Merida, to prevent incidents.
