Calvin Russell: blues man is lonely dcd

The blues world is in mourning. It is this Sunday, April 3, 2011 that we learned with great sadness the passing of American bluesman Calvin Russell. Aged only 62, the Texan singer has had a tremendous career. Suffering from cancer, Calvin Russell leaves an imprint of its passage in eternal blues music with his deep voice behind which gathered blues fans at each performance.

Born in Austin in 1948, the Texan singer spent her childhood in a very modest background. American-born, he often visited the county jail in Austin where he began composing. Calvin Russell's career began when a French music producer, Patrick Mathe, who founded the label New Rose, discovered in a bar.

Calvin Russell was 40 years. With his quickdraw cowboy, always wearing a Stetson proudly, the singer has never spared. As he sang so well, alcohol and drugs have marked his career. Calvin Russell has never hidden his lifestyle, many widely abusing substances that gave this character a painful facet but able to offer its public six albums that refer to the Blues music.

Calvin Russell died Sunday, April 3 in Texas at the age of 62. He was said to have cancer. And it is a cancer of the liver that was due to the battered Texas to face, the singer had a fine reputation in France, including giving regular concerts sold out.
