Leonard Cohen, Prince of Asturias Prize for Literature 2011

Canadian singer Leonard Cohen has been awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize for Literature 2011, which the organization recognizes his work as a poet and novelist as well as the richness of his lyrics. Cohen has also been a candidate in this year's Prince of Asturias Award category of the Arts for his musical career.

In addition to his celebrated letters, Leonard Cohen has shown their level literary publications like the book of poems Flowers for Hitler or the novel The Favourite Game. The Montreal and takes over from the Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf, winner last year in this category. Of the 32 nominations for this year's award finalists have also been as Ian McEwan and Alice Munro.

The ceremony will take place during the autumn at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo, where Cohen will receive a commissioned sculpture by Joan Miró and € 50,000 prize. Coming in Hypersonic is a review of the merits made by Cohen to get this prestigious award.
